A Message from the Director
Suicide Prevention Program Campaign
Dear Washington Residents,
We need your help to end suicide among Service Members, Veterans and their Families (SMVF). With the rates of SMVF suicides showing no decrease in recent years, we need to work together to support our Veteran and Military community.
Your WDVA has a new Suicide Prevention Program which leads the Washington State Governor’s Challenge to end SMVF suicide. We work collaboratively with local, state, and federal organizations as well as the community to provide outreach and workshops to emphasize suicide prevention, lethal means safety, and military cultural competency.
Suicide prevention begins and ends with the community! That’s why we need you to assist us in the design of a logo to represent this program.
This logo will become part of history as we support each other and will forever be the face of our program.
If you wish to be part of this monumental project, I encourage you to submit your designs for consideration.

Walla Walla Veterans Home
Washington State Penitentiary Donation Creates Artistic Smiles
Our honored Walla Walla Veterans Home resident, Billy, recently received a very special gift of canvases and paint for Christmas from the staff at the Washington State Penitentiary.
Billy painted a lovely butterfly picture that he wanted to share with WSP and all of our audiences to show his appreciation. All of the numerous residents that received gifts were so grateful for the WSP and all of our community members' kindness in giving.
We would like to send a special thank you again to WSP and everyone who donated to any of our four veterans homes. #WeLoveOurCommunity #TheseAreOurHeroes
