Please Note: Due to recruitment and retention shortages, all newly hired permanent NAC’s or NAC Lead’s will receive a recruitment incentive payment of $1,500 upon hire.  In addition, you’ll receive another $1,500 after completion of your probationary period.  These recruitment incentive payments will expire on September 30, 2022.

As a Nursing Assistant Certified, you'll assist in the delivery of nursing and nursing related care to vulnerable veterans in need of skilled nursing care.  You'll have the ability to lend direction to your patients as well as a caring attitude.

  • Position B769: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with Tuesday and Wednesday off
  • Position 0101: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with Wednesday and Thursday off
  • Position 0228: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with Thursday and Friday off
  • Position 0117: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with Monday and Tuesday off
  • Position B774: 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with Monday and Tuesday off
  • Position B717: 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with Monday and Tuesday off
  • Position 0075: 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. with Tuesday and Wednesday off

Duties

Some of what you'll be doing includes:

  • Assisting residents with positioning, transferring and ambulation; ensuring a safe and secure work environment, including preventative infection control methods.
  • Responding to call lights, internal and external emergencies, and facility codes.
  • Recording care, vital signs and observations.
  • Assisting residents with personal clothing, belongings and equipment; bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, etc.
  • Assisting with therapies and treatment under the direction of licensed personnel; motion exercises as needed.
  • Accurately obtaining, recording vital signs and other resident data; documenting intake/output records.
  • Performing basic nursing procedures such as applying anti-embolism stockings, applying creams or lotions, collecting specimens, etc.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Washington State license to practice as a Nursing Assistant Certified.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language for medical charts and to perform data entry.
Desired:
  • Current active status on OBRA (Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act).

  • Per Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 21-14.1, state employees must be fully vaccinated no later than October 18, 2021. Your vaccine status will be verified at New Employee Orientation.

  • Must comply with health screening requirements by undergoing a tuberculosis skin test.
  • Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
